Drive System

Oak Press Solutions' drive system consists of a precision eccentric shaft with anti-friction roller bearings on all support and driving points. The heavy duty roller bearings provide exceptional precision, long life, and minimal friction.

Many presses use crank shafts and bronze bearings to drive their press slides.

ECCENTRIC SHAFT vs. CRANKSHAFT

  1. STRONGER - Solid eccentric shaft provides more strength than sectioned crankshaft
  2. STRAIGHTER- Support bearings can be placed closer to driving points on an eccentric shaft than a crankshaft. This will reduce shaft deflection.

ANTI-FRICTION ROLLER BEARINGS vs. BRONZE BEARINGS

  1. PRECISION- Roller bearings will maintain consistent tolerances. Bushings will “wear” with time changing fit tolerances and drive system precision.
  2. SPEED- Anti-friction roller bearings have higher speed ratings than bronze bearings. This will allow you to run your press faster.
